Most homeowners have no idea what's going on in their attic. Out of sight, out of mind - until your energy bills climb and certain rooms just won't cool down no matter what you do. A loose or disconnected duct is one of the most common culprits, and it's one of the easiest things to miss without a proper inspection.

Here's what we were working with - a flexible duct that had separated from the air handler collar. That means your system is pushing conditioned air straight into the attic instead of into your living space. Your HVAC works harder, runs longer, and still can't keep up. The insulation on the duct was bunched and compromised right at the connection point, which tells us this wasn't a fresh problem.

This kind of issue sneaks up on you. The duct might look connected from a distance, but once you get hands-on with it, the gap becomes obvious. That gap is where your cool air goes to die in 130-degree attic heat. No filter change or thermostat adjustment is going to fix that.

That's why we always recommend a full duct inspection as part of any air duct service call. We get up there, we get eyes on every connection, and we catch the small stuff before it turns into a big repair or a full duct replacement. A loose fitting here, a failing seal there - these are fixable problems when you find them early.

If your system has been running constantly and your home still feels inconsistent room to room, don't just assume your equipment is failing. Let us check the ductwork first. Nine times out of ten, the fix is simpler than people expect.
